Christian Stadeus wanted to honour his father by giving him a book as a gift, a book filled with greetings and anecdotes from friends and family.
How did you come up with the idea to make your own book?
- I wanted to give my father a very personal gift which would include a lot of warmth, thoughts and love. And something that would be long lasting as well. Making the book at Solentro seemed like the perfect way to go about this…
What was most enjoyable?
- Being able to read all the stories and greetings from my father’s friends had a big impact on me. I was very moved by all the wonderful things people were saying about my father, I also got to know him a little bit better… Finally, my father’s reaction when he received the book was priceless!
Any suggestions to others who are thinking about creating their own book?
- It’s important to be clear on what you want when sending out the invitations to contribute with greetings, this makes it easier when editing the book in the end. The feeling of the book is both what it consists of, but also the design and layout.
What has this gift meant to you?
- It’s the most precious gift I have ever given, and I found out many wonderful things about my father that I wasn’t aware of. It will also be an amazing memorabilia for the whole family. For my father the book brought back a lot of “lost” memories, something he can read about over and over again...
